CPAs in public practice (PP) whose application for accreditation is still pending in PRC need not worry anymore.
They can now proceed with their practice engagements, including the completion and signing of their auditor report/opinion without waiting for the release of their accreditation certificate. BoA Resolution 37-2017 has been issued and published in Philippine Star last January 26, 2016.
This resolution provides the CPAs in PP the provisional accreditation that they would need to transact with the other regulators and to proceed with their practice.
The resolution provides, among others, that:
- That the validity of accreditation of all individual CPAs and partnerships/firms engaged in public accountancy, which expired on December 31, 2016 and have applications for renewal of accreditation filed on or before December 31, 2016 that are are still pending with the Commission and the BoA shall have their accreditation provisionally extended until April 30, 2017.
- That this provisional extension shall be indicated in all pertinent documents as follows: “BOA Certification No.____, with extended validity until April 30, 2017 pursuant to PRC/BoA Resolution No. 37-2017”
- Individual CPAs and partnerships/firms engaged in public accountancy who have applied for accreditation for the first time on or before December 31, 2016 that are still pending with the PRC or BoA applications shall be granted provisional accreditation,
That this provisional extension shall be indicated in all pertinent documents as follows:
“BOA application number _______granted provisional accreditation valid until April 30, 2017 pursuant to PRC/BoA Resolution No. 37-2017”
The BoA will communicate this resolution to the other regulators, including the BIR, SEC and the others, to advise them of the grant of extended provisional accreditation to the CPAs.
The BoA application number will be communicated to each applicant by PRC and/or PICPA. For the meantime, while this has not yet been received, the CPA can instead indicate the PRC official receipt number for the payment of accreditation filing fee.
